Why doesn't Romania have very many distinguished dialects as opposed to other Romance speaking countries? For instance, Italy is a linguistically diverse country full of many semi-mutually intelligible languages that form a continuum. Why is this not the case in Romania?

In the animated adaption of Mulan, the song, "I’ll make a man out of you" contains the lyrics: "With all the strength of a raging fire / Mysterious as the dark side of the moon". Did the Chinese know that the moon was a sphere and that we see the same side of it every night?

I've been told, as a source of pride, by Scottish-Canadians that Canada had raised more Scottish regiments in the World Wars than Scotland proper. Is this true?
